Social Memory Complex: A political economy of the soul

Well lots of stuff happened since Wednesday.  First of all, I did decide to go to Raleigh, but a big ass storm hit my town.  Has to be the worse thunderstorm I've ever seen.  Lightning struck a house and burnt it to the ground about a mile away from me.  I was tired but decided to go to Raleigh anyway, so I waited for the storm to subside.  Anyway, 10 miles down the road I got pulled over for reckless driving.  So now I have to go to court.  Turned around and went home.   Anyway, Friday I went down to Virginia Beach to see Brothers Past and the show was awesome and I saw a lot of people I know and met a lot I didn't.  A guy from that INTJ list I joined also came out on my invitation, which was cool.  After the show they were partying all night at the hotel and I got no sleep till I sucked it up and drove back home at 6am.  Slept all day and went to the show in Richmond, which was again awesome.  Ran into a bunch of Richmond kids I hadn't seen in a while, including some that I used to play in a band with.  So that was cool.  But, again, I partied too late and didn't get any sleep till I drove home at 6AM.  Starting to see a pattern here?  :-)   We might go backpacking this weekend with some friends.  I've been fiending to go for some time.  That's all I can type now because I'm still recovering from this weekend.

Whoa, boy. I have been just way to lazy to update my blog. So let me apologize to all my fans.

Yeah, uh, sorry Clyde! :-)

Anyway, this weekend was wierd. I spent Saturday napping and drinking beer and defending my favorite band's honor. Sunday I spent chatting with our friends in Richmond who are having a baby. Then we picked up Tasha's sister from the airport. On the way home I got a flat tire, so I pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant we were headed to. Tasha and her sister ate while I tried to fix the flat with that foam stuff. That shit does NOT work. It tells you to spray the foam in the tire, and then to drive around for 4 miles if the rim's off the ground. Well, it was off the ground, so I drove around for 4 mi, only to find that after the drive the rim WAS on the ground :-( so fuck that, I called AAA to come out and change my tire (I was wierd about changing it because the parking lot was inclined) but ended up changing it while waiting for the tow truck. The guy was pretty cool about being called out for nothing - I used to work for GEICO dispatching tow trucks to customers, and they can be pretty fucking petty. Anyway, I was able to get the tire fixed the next day so it all turned out ok.

Trying to decide whether I should head down to Raleigh tonight for the BP show. We'll see.

OH, BTW - saw Fahrenheit 9/11 on Monday. That was a pretty good movie. Completely biased and emotional, but at least it gave people an antidote to the pro-war, pro-establishment media. It was points that needed to be made, definately. 'Cause Bush sucks.

The universe is wierd. I get turned down for one job (programming slot machines) but I get a raise and promotion at my current job. Huh.

Anyway, just checking in... I submitted my three original drum and bass tracks to the Brothers Past Fan Sampler project, so hopefully you'll be able to get a copy soon.

Might go camping this weekend, might not. Whatever.

Happy Independence Day. This article pretty much describes how I feel about it.

But it wasn't what I was thinking about yesterday. Yesterday I was on Interstate 95 coming back from a Brothers Past show and after party that lasted till 8 AM trying to deal with a hangover without becoming an interpersonal Cro-magnon man. Ugh, yesterday was nasty. I hate Maryland House. But the BP show was totally worth it! I even met a fellow BP fan who is a more active Libertarian (upper case L intended) than I! A good time was had by all. Until I took that last shot of whatever the hell that was.

A Guys Gone Wild video? WTF? Who wants to see that? I guess somebody who maybe didn't go to college...? But that's kind of my argument against the Girls Gone Wild videos, too. I mean, don't buy the tapes - just go to your local campus party. In other words, have a life.

At least this will shut up feminists (ehh, unlikely).

Man, I just recently joined a group for INTJs, and we're some argumentative assholes, let me tell ya. But, we tend to concede when we don't know something, at least something not absolutely central to our belief system. And I like that. The most interesting conversation now is my discussion of morality with an honest to God Calvinist! What a cool wacko! :-)

We may be assholes, but at least we're not you. HA!

Humiliated by the Brits

Whoever said the U.S. military is a source of undying patriotic faith never had to count on the British. Jeez.

America's military commander in Iraq ordered British troops to prepare a full-scale ground offensive against Iranian forces that had crossed the border and grabbed disputed territory, a senior officer has disclosed.

An attack would almost certainly have provoked open conflict with Iran. But the British chose instead to resolve the matter through diplomatic channels.

"If we had attacked the Iranian positions, all hell would have broken loose," a defence source said yesterday.

"We would have had the Iranians to our front and the Iraqi insurgents picking us off at the rear."

I resent Gen. Sanchez for making me indebted to the British Army.

Random Picture Day

It's random picture day! (and there was much rejoicing yaaay)

Which is kind of what I feel gambling is like, only with less enthusiasm and more of an "I'm breathing but I'm really dead inside" look.

Here's another one:

Yep, straight from the FOX News archives.

Man, I had something really interesting I wanted to post, and I forgot all about it. Damn. Well I guess that's all for today!

UPDATE: Hey, I remember what I wanted to post about. Lately I've been really interested in the Meyers-Briggs-Jung personality types. Take the test today and tell me what you are. I'm INTJ; you can look up a profile of your type here.

Dolla dolla bill

Man, whoever said Fahrenheit 9/11 would never make money was a dummy. I spent an hour and a half just trying to find a theater playing it in the Richmond area and once I found it, it was sold out for the rest of the day.

Well, Michael Moore and his fat ass are just gonna have to wait. I'll try again on Thursday.

By the way, I have an interview on Friday with a company that programs slot machines. I'm still trying to figure out whether this is one of those cases of cosmic irony. It's complicated since I don't really have strong feelings one way or another about gambling, other than that it just bores me. Man, that's gonna be so cool when I can go to a casino, hit up-up-down-B-A-B and get like totally paid. Screw extra lives.

Outer Banks Adventures

Beach was cool. We went down to Cape Hatteras for the weekend. Tasha, her sister Kristal, and I left Saturday morning, camped at a KOA Saturday night, and were home by Sunday evening. The main reason for going was so that Tasha could deliver some of her work to a gallery down there. Anyway, we were talking to the lady there and I saw she had this magazine called What Is Enlightenment. I had read an article from the web site before but I asked her about the magazine and she was talking about it with me. It sounds really interesting - a non-flighty approach to holistic science and philosophy, I guess that's one way you could put it. She definately stressed that it was NOT light reading. So I'm gonna subscribe and see what this junk is about.

Actually, it was a really wierd weekend. Tasha and I ran into a really old friend of ours from back in college. Turns out she's now married to this other friend of ours from back then and that they have a child. We went over to their place (he's in the Coast Guard now) and had a great time. Really interesting conversations. Anyway, so now we have a place to stay on the Outer Banks, and really cool people to hang out with too.

Oh, I'm also getting involved with Bring4th.org which is a new project by the people who brought you L/L Research and the Ra material. I even modified my article for their site, which you can see here.

Moving Forward on Unified Field Theory

Per a recent discussion on the comment list, I have finally decided to post on one segment of David Wilcock's The Science of Oneness work, concerning the unified nature of consciousness in the universe:

As our understanding of this universal energy source continues to expand, we are soon confronted with the idea that it is intelligent, that it can directly interact with our consciousness. After all, if this truly is the "Unified Field" that mainstream science has been searching for as the basis for all matter, then we are also a part of that unified field -- mind, body and spirit. Or to put it in different terms, since we have consciousness, then consciousness must be a functioning part of that unified field as well. This simple point of philosophy is quite often ignored in the course of a scientific investigation:

By virtue of the fact that consciousness exists, it must be a function of the Unified Field, whatever that turns out to be.

And in his book A Brief History of Time, well-known physicist Stephen Hawking predicted in the late 1980's that this Unified Field Theory would be solved within twenty years.

Disclosure or Digression? You decide.

Whoa, apparently Ike met with aliens, says the Post:

These aliens -- nicknamed "Nordics" in UFO circles because they resemble Scandinavian humans -- traveled to Edwards from another solar system in a flying saucer and, Salla says, they spoke to Eisenhower. "There was telepathic communication," says Salla, 45, as he sits in his suburban Falls Church living room. "It's as though you're hearing a person but they're not speaking." The "Nordics" offered to share their superior technology and their spiritual wisdom with Ike if he would agree to eliminate America's nuclear weapons. "They were afraid we might blow up some of our nuclear technology," Salla says, "and apparently that does something to time and space and it impacts on extraterrestrial races on other planets." Ike declined the ETs' offer, Salla says, because he did not want to give up the nukes.

I'm not sure what's more surprising - that the Washington Post actually wrote a story about this (why now?) or that Ike turned down getting rid of nukes to get ETs in his posse, not to mention spiritual information.

What a dumbass. Bet JFK would have taken them up on it. Bet he would have hit them up for a dime bag of space coke, too, and a space presidential model taboot. But I digress... towards entropy...
